Dear Neighbors - Chris Bolduc, Cumberland Asst Town Manager, sent an email announcement today to attendees of the public forums last year about the official status of the Public Works project.  Please see below.

    Sept 16, 2020

As most of you already know, construction work for the new public works garage started this morning at 7am.  I apologize for the timing of this email as construction was going to start Thursday but got pushed ahead with a DEP approval late yesterday afternoon.  I am sending you this email with a construction plan and projected timing of the project.

    • All the busses will be moving off site to the Fairgrounds this week .  We are doing this so the contractor will have more flexibility to move around the site and complete the site work faster.  The busses will be moved back when the majority of the work is complete, we are projecting mid November.
    • The cold storage building is being torn down today and should be complete by tomorrow morning.
    • We are moving the white building, used by the bus drivers, to the front of the bus garage along the fence line.  This is a temporary location and will be removed when the administrative building is complete.
    • Due to budgetary constraints we have had to make this a two phase project.  The garage and all the site work will be in phase one and construction of the administrative building will be phase two.  Timing on phase two is TBD, and will be discussed through the Towns Budget process.
    • We are shooting for a May 31, 2021 completion date on phase one of the project.
    • The new sand salt building will be constructed during the first two weeks of October 2020 and the old salt building will be removed shortly after that.

Thank you for all your time, effort and input in the planning of this project.

    Regards

    Chris Bolduc

Assistant Town Manager, Town of Cumberland

Our VG Homeowner Association is run by a group of homeowner volunteers who work with our vendors and Property Manager.  Board of Director seats are typically two year positions, and Committee memberships are at will.

We are seeking volunteers for our Board of Directors to fill openings starting in the October/November 2020 timeframe.  Committees are also seeking volunteers for two areas - Social and Grounds.  These are fun ways to get to know more folks in Village Green, contribute your ideas to the neighborhood, and make Village Green a great place to live.

Please let Beth Hemenway know if you would like more info, or if you would like to join these groups.  Thank You!

    Irrigation Update

We are pleased to report that the underground electrical break associated with the Wyman Way Irrigation system was fixed this past Tuesday. All irrigation was operational as of June 3.

Due to the lack of rain over the last several weeks and little rain in forecast, the water output will be increased one day this week for the entire Village Green Irrigation system.

If any questions, please contact Beth Hemenway at bhemenway@phoenixmanagementcompany.com

    Thank you.

    Dear Neighbors,

The Village Green Grounds Committee is planning to fertilize HOA trees and some evergreens on Wyman this spring.  In the past, we've paid a tree service to fertilize the trees for us.  This year, we plan to fertilize the trees ourselves thus saving significant costs while still doing a great job.  The savings may fund other potential neighborhood landscaping and tree replacement needs.

    Volunteers Needed!!

What >> Would you like to join us and help fertilize our trees and evergreens?  We'll show you what to do (while practicing social distancing) and provide the supplies.  Each item will need up to 4 fertilizer spikes - inserting the spike is an easy task but takes some tapping to push into the soil.  Fertilizing one tree or evergreen should take about 10 minutes.

You can volunteer to fertilize trees near your home or donate an hour or two of your time to main areas and side streets that need help along Drowne, Wyman or Bradbury.

When>> Our target dates to fertilize are the first and second weekends in May. You may see other neighbors from a safe distance on the parkways those weekends.

Responses >> Please contact Beth Hemenway at BHemenway@Phoenixmanagementcompany.com to volunteer and learn more.

Please respond in the next 5 days if possible (April 27)  so that we can finalize our plans.    Thank you for your help!
